Separate Applicant Withdrawal and Offer Decline Reasons

The reasons an applicant withdraws may not be the same reason an applicant declines an offer. Having one list with a lot of reasons on it decreases our chances for accurate data on the true "WHY" a candidate withdraws or declines. We are proposing that these lists be separated out so we can better manage and retrieve viable data.

What business value are you trying to achieve?

Better Quality of Life enhancement to the Withdraw/Decline reasons process.

Hi Adam and all, confirming that we would like the ability to display separate reasons when the hiring manager/recruiter moves the applicant into the applicable status! For example, if an applicant is being moved to the "withdrawn" status, we want to only display reasons that pertain to withdrawals. Thank you for clarifying!

Thank you for the additional context for your scenario.

To be clear, there are three ways that the list can be filtered.

Firstly, when the applicant withdraws their application, the reasons can be filtered down to only the applicable items.
Secondly, when the applicant declines their offer, the reasons can be filtered down to only the applicable items.
Thirdly, when the Hiring Manager/Recruiter moves the applicant into an applicable status, then the reasons can be filtered down.

From the sounds of it, it is specifically the third scenario that you are looking to split out, to limit what the hiring managers or recruiters can select when manually moving them into a withdrawn or declined status as opposed to the applicant withdrawing or declining themselves and selecting their reasons.

Apologies. Your comment was for Emily, not me. :)

Hi Adam - We were told that these cannot exist separately from our TAM and we agreed that we would submit this feedback as a quality of life enhancement. In your suggestion, can you confirm that the reasons are tied to the applicant status of Withdrawn and Offer Declined? Any other information you have on how to accomplish this would be helpful.

    Hi Emily,

Each of the reasons can be set to only display in certain criteria.

This can be set in system settings, selecting application reasons, and then selecting edit against a reason. There are three radio button groups to choose whether they display when the applicant withdraws, when the applicant declines the offer, or when a user moves them to a status with a particular recruitment step.

We would also love the ability to separate these reasons! It would be great if we could specify which reasons show for each of the following recruitment steps:

    • Offer declined

    • Withdraw

    • Unsuitable - not suitable for employment ; Unsuitable - at this time
