What business value are you trying to achieve?
When someone is a no-show for a class, they are unable to re-register for that class when it is rescheduled. The same is true if they are on the waitlist and a new class time is scheduled. They have to first be removed from the previous event.
We would like for people to be able to register for classes regardless of whether they've registered for a previous timeslot or were on the waitlist for a previous timeslot.

Also disabling the waitlist function would be very beneficial for face to face and virtual learning activities. Currently, wait-listed users cannot select an alternative date, which means the admin can only change the status. The admin would also need to know the date to book rather than letting the user self-select an alternative date based on their availability. There is also the additional problem that if an admin changes the status to not yet started, an automatic email is generated advising the user that the learning activity is "booked", causing further confusion.
To tie into this idea, it would be great if users could more easily change timeslot without having to remove themselves from the learning activity completely before hand.
