This is related to Legacy PDs and has been a request we field from our campus partners often over the course of the last 6 years. It's very valuable to have an option to download an editable version of the PD to work with staff and leaders who may not be in the system and confortable editing there, or want a more dynamic, conversational experience using track changes and comments.
Hi Adam, this is in relation to legacy position descriptions. We have not yet had the chance to test out flexible forms to see if an opportunity for an editable download also exists there. Not all users who make edits to PDs have the same level of access in PageUp to edit directly in the system. As Melissa mentioned, it is much easier to use a Word document to track changes when editing in Legacy.
Not all PD users make edits directly into the system - our unit supports 25+ departments across campus that make edits to PDs using Word versions, which we then review and enter into PageUp. Even if we did have users making edits directly in the system, having an editable document version of the PD would be helpful for collaboration while working on PD edits at any level of the organization. It's much easier to use a Word doc with track changes than to try to spot the differences using revision history in PageUp when you're developing a PD.
Hi Patrick, is this in relation to legacy position descriptions or the newer flexible form position descriptions?
It would be good to get an understanding of what sort of information you are unable to provide in the position description itself that is requiring you to make additions to the exported version of the position description document.
We would strongly prefer Word. For additional context, supervisors often wish to edit current PDs with at least regular, but sometimes substantive, updates. The current PDF-only option requires a lot of work to put into an editable Word document, as the PDF-Word conversion in the software does a terrible job. Thank you!
