AI Skills Matching – Ability to edit skills after “Verify to match”

Provide authorised users with the ability to unlock and edit AI Skills Matching criteria after the skills have been verified and locked for candidate matching.

The recent enhancement to automatically generate and review skills before matching helps address situations where skills have not been configured before sourcing. However, there can still be situations after skills are locked where the role requirements change, the hiring manager refines the skills required, or an incorrect or irrelevant skill needs to be corrected.

We would like an option to reopen the Skills Matching setup and make necessary changes after “Verify to match” has been selected.

As changing skills could affect candidate matching results that have already been generated or reviewed, this should ideally include:

  • Permission-controlled ability to unlock/edit skills

  • A warning that changes may affect existing candidate matches

  • An audit trail showing what was changed, when and by whom

  • Clear indication of whether existing applicants will be reassessed against the updated skills

What business value are you trying to achieve?

Recruitment requirements can change throughout the hiring process. A hiring manager may refine the requirements of the role, or the recruitment team may identify that a skill needs to be added, removed or adjusted after matching has already started.

Allowing authorised users to update the skills would ensure AI Skills Matching continues to reflect the current requirements of the role, rather than remaining based on criteria that are no longer accurate.

At the same time, maintaining appropriate permissions, warnings and an audit trail would help ensure that any changes made after candidates have already been matched or reviewed remain transparent and controlled.

This would provide greater flexibility for recruiters and hiring teams while maintaining appropriate governance around AI-assisted candidate matching.
