Organizations often use search committees and panel members in the recruitment process while limiting access to only the applicants associated with specific requisitions. Currently, users with the Show Applicant Card permission who are assigned as panel members can access applicants through Candidate Search that they would not otherwise have permission to view.
This creates confusion because applicant access restrictions configured through security roles and recruitment permissions are effectively overridden by panel membership. As a result, panel members may be able to view applicants and applications outside the requisitions they are intended to support.
We propose an enhancement that allows organizations to enforce applicant access restrictions within Candidate Search, ensuring that panel membership does not grant broader visibility than intended. Organizations should have the ability to configure whether panel members can view only applicants related to their assigned requisitions or all applicants available through Candidate Search.
This enhancement would benefit HR administrators, recruitment teams, hiring managers, search committee members, and compliance teams by providing more granular security controls and ensuring applicant visibility aligns with organizational access policies.

What business value are you trying to achieve?
Protecting applicant data is a critical security, privacy, and compliance requirement. Organizations need confidence that users can only access candidate information that is directly related to their role in the recruitment process. When security settings are overridden by system logic, it increases the risk of unintended access to applicant records and creates uncertainty around data governance. This enhancement would improve trust in the platform's security model by ensuring configured permissions are consistently enforced throughout the system. It would reduce the need for workarounds, simplify security administration, and help institutions meet privacy and confidentiality expectations for applicant data. For users, the outcome is a clearer and more predictable experience where candidate visibility matches their assigned responsibilities. For organizations, the benefit is stronger data security, reduced compliance risk, improved governance, and greater confidence that sensitive applicant information is only accessible to authorized individuals. This functionality would be especially valuable in higher education, healthcare, government, and other industries where candidate confidentiality is a business and regulatory priority. |
