If an applicant has been deselected, suppress any reminder emails to their referees. For example, if the applicant is in a non-current application status, do not send reminder emails to their referees. Alternatively, if the applicant is in a recruitment step indicating that they have been deselected (such as "Unsuitable - at this time"), do not send reminder emails to their referees.

What business value are you trying to achieve?
Contacting an applicant's referees if we already know the applicant is no longer under consideration creates an awkward and embarrassing situation for all parties. We also want to be respectful of referees' time and avoid causing confusion. |
agreed - if an applicant is marked as unsuccessful - disable any reminder email
