Ability for HR to determine status and confirm completion and return of I9 forms

What is the business process you are trying to achieve?
In onboarding - If an employee completes the task that says they completed their I9, the manager says they completed the I9, and then the physical form gets sent to HR. We need a way for HR to have a task or provide verification that we received it. They can say they sent it and think they are done with the task but until we verify receipt, not really done. We also need to be able to run reports to know what missing documents are still needed and can’t just have the employee indication of task completion be the verification of our receipt.
