Agreed. The onboarding tasks are great at notifying the new hire and the manager when they are due, but there's nothing to notify anyone once the task is complete. Without a role for HR in the Onboarding process*, there's no way to designate who would get the notifications, so we also need a new role in addition to the functionality to notify.
*In our case, the HR Representative on the Job is a different staff member than who would be the HR Rep handling the Onboarding forms.
