Auto assign employees up hierarchy when supervisor or 1-up reviewer position is vacant

When initiating performance reviews or during the course of a performance year, if the supervisor position becomes vacant, the review is automatically assigned to the 1-up manager and the 1-up manager's supervisor becomes the new 1-up manager for the review.

What business value are you trying to achieve?

To remove the manual intervention in the process. Currently, HR has to manually change the supervisor and 1-up manager's names when there are vacant positions. This causes a lot of rework. This would be a great use of the position data that we send daily since the data provides the information on where each position reports up to.
