I believe it would be useful to add the question “Are you legally authorized to work in the United States?” as a profile question and have it carried over to the application form instead of having the applicant answer on each application they complete.
We had an applicant who submitted several applications across our college system and she accidentally answered ‘No’ to that question on one of the applications, but ‘Yes’ on the others. This created an ineligible flag for her of course, which made other hiring officials question her eligibility to work.
