Employer Name search on External Application is Cumbersome to Applicants

The Employer Name field on the application should allow applicants to enter the name instead of using the binoculars to search. The applicant should not have to click on three to four links to enable the field to appear to enter employer name.

What is the business process you are trying to achieve?

We ask applicants to complete employment fields after they upload their resume, so their employer information flows to our background check vendor properly.

The Employer Name search should be optional and allow applicants to manually type employer name on initial screen. The current design forces the applicant to click on the binoculars to search, takes them to the next screen. It is not intuitive to begin typing name before the option to manually enter the employer is enabled. This design is adding several extra steps to complete the application for each employer listed. We feel the current design may be discouraging applicants from applying.

This enhancement would reduce the time it takes to complete the application. (See attachment for screen shots.)

employer name list is quite restricted (200?) - ideally this should be expanded to reduce freetexting employer company names being added by the applicant after selecting "Didn't find what you were looking for?"
