Allow consistent learner identifier (ECC Username) across sessions to ensure accurate completion tracking

When learners launch training from PageUp, a unique identifier is generated in the format PageUpInstanceID-PageUpID. This identifier is used to track the learner session through SCORM Cloud and Vector Solutions.

However, when a learner exits a training before completion and later re-enters, a new instance ID is generated. Because Vector relies on a mapping between the original identifier and the ECC username, this new identifier is not recognized, and course completions are not consistently attributed to the correct learner.

I propose allowing the use of a consistent, persistent identifier such as the ECC username instead of generating a new instance ID per session. This would ensure that learner activity and completions are always mapped correctly, regardless of how many times a learner exits and re-enters a training.

If replacing the identifier is not feasible, an alternative solution would be to persist the original identifier across sessions or allow re-entry to reuse the same session ID.

What business value are you trying to achieve?

This enhancement would significantly improve the reliability and accuracy of training completion tracking across integrated systems.

Currently, intermittent completion failures require manual investigation and create uncertainty around whether employees have completed required training. This introduces compliance risk, especially for required or regulated training, and increases administrative overhead for HR and Learning teams.

By ensuring consistent learner identification across sessions, this solution would:

  • Eliminate mismatched or missing completion records

  • Reduce manual troubleshooting and support requests

  • Improve data integrity between PageUp, SCORM Cloud, and Vector Solutions

  • Ensure accurate reporting for compliance and auditing purposes

  • Enhance the overall user experience by preventing lost progress

This would provide both operational efficiency and reduce institutional risk related to incomplete or untracked training records.
