Use en-AU (Australian English) as the default HTML language tag for Australian clients

Currently, PageUp pages are tagged in the HTML as en-GB (UK English).
This causes Google and other search engines to interpret the content as being for UK users, which can slightly affect SEO and local search visibility for Australian organisations.

Updating the language tag to en-AU (Australian English) ensures:

  • Better alignment with Australian clients and content.

  • Improved Google ranking and localisation for Australian audiences.

  • Consistency across spelling, accessibility, and metadata standards.

This is a small but meaningful change that would benefit all Australian customers using PageUp-hosted pages.

What business value are you trying to achieve?

Ensuring PageUp pages use the correct Australian English (en-AU) language tag improves how

Google recognises and ranks our job ads and career site content for local Australian audiences. This increases visibility in search results, supports employer branding, and helps attract more qualified local candidates.

It also ensures consistency with Australian spelling, accessibility, and compliance standards, aligning with government and organisational localisation requirements.
